Description:
The Three Towns has been running for over 3 and a half years, with the aim of creating a challenging and engrossing world. With a comprehensive history and plot underlying the world, as players adventure they uncover the epic events that shaped the world. With ages old hatreds and rivalries between many of the inhabitants of the world, the players must decide whose side to support, as they approach the final and ultimate conflict!
Systems and Features:
Two Server Setup: Players are able to create their characters on either of the Three Towns servers, and are able to portal between them to find parties, play with friends or just find a quiet spot to adventure on their own. The Three Towns uses a single shared vault and database, allowing players to use the same characters on either server.
Persistent Locations: When a player logs out, their location in the world is saved so that when they log back in they can continue from that place, even after server resets and across servers. This saves long, time consuming journeys from entry points to where they want to adventure.
Specially Written AI: The artificial intelligence has been specially written so that creatures work together against hostile players, make the most of their abilities and spells and act as intelligently as possible while still keeping CPU usage (and thus lag) very low. High level enemies and 'boss' creatures often use specially modified AI systems, enabling them to act even more intelligently, targeting the highest threat enemies, calling on their followers and other surprising behaviours.
Overland Encounters: Instead of using many long empty areas to show distance between important locations, Three Towns uses a custom random encounter system. Players go straight from one important location to the next, with a variable chance of being ambushed along the way.
Rest Ambush System: Rather than use rest timers, or special requirements for resting, such as bed rolls, food, water and camp fires, Three Towns uses a custom rest disruption system – the more dangerous an area, the more chance a group of wandering monsters will discover you while resting and attack!
Reputation Systems: Some merchants use reputation based vending, where your reputation determines the quality of the goods you can buy. In a war torn land, such as Three Towns, metal is scarce, and players can find scrap metal dropped by enemies and return it to the towns to improve their standing with the Smiths and gain access to better equipment.
Guilds: Six official guilds with scripted systems are available to the players, covering the full range of alignments. From the good aligned Guardian Guild, who defend the towns and its citizens, to the evil Cult of Exile, the thorn in the side of the towns, out to create havoc and gain power! Guilds are player run, with players deciding who runs the guilds, the actions they take and more. Systems allow members to gain personal reputation in their guilds, and for the purchase of guards to defend and merchants to supply the guild as a whole.
Quests: Many quests are available for the players to complete, some allowing access to new areas, merchants and resources, some specifically for players who pick a faction to ally. Many quests have multiple ways to complete them.
And many, many more!
With new content continually being added by our dedicated development team, there is always something new to see or do in The Three Towns.
